Freedom of Information Officer (APS5/6)
Allygroup is seeking multiple Freedom of Information (FOI) Officers at the APS5 and APS6 levels to support a high-profile Federal Government Department under a labour-hire arrangement. These opportunities are offered on an initial four-month contract, with the potential for further extensions.
This is an exciting opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals and contribute to meaningful, high-impact projects that support important government outcomes and help shape Australia's future.
Positions are available in Canberra, Sydney, Brisbane and Adelaide. Applicants must hold a current Baseline security clearance to be considered.
The candidate will be required to perform all the functions necessary for managing requests made under the Freedom of Information Act 1982, including but not limited to:
Managing complex information access and administrative review matters in accordance with relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
Analysing, integrating and evaluating information to support decision-making on complex and sensitive matters.
Preparing a range of complex documentation, including correspondence, briefing materials, reports, responses and formal submissions as required.
Conducting internal reviews and quality assessments of decisions and processes.
Managing and resolving sensitive enquiries and issues, referring or escalating matters where appropriate.
Providing specialist advice and technical expertise to staff and stakeholders on complex legislative, policy and procedural matters.
Undertaking quality assurance activities and monitoring compliance with relevant legislation, policies, procedures and standards.
Maintaining accurate records and information in accordance with information management and security requirements.
Exercising delegated authority appropriate to the role in line with legislative and organisational requirements.
Fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment by supporting, mentoring and developing staff through coaching, guidance and training.
About you

Knowledge and understanding of, or the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of, relevant legislation, policies, procedures and information management requirements.
Demonstrated ability to lead a small team and deliver high-quality outcomes.
Ability to plan, organise and prioritise work in a dynamic environment with competing demands and deadlines.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt communication style to suit different audiences.
Ability to build, maintain and develop effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgement and the ability to identify and manage sensitive issues appropriately.
Strong research, analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to produce accurate, high-quality work with a high level of attention to detail.
