APS4/5 Graduate Data Analyst (Minimum NV2 Clearance Required)


Allygroup is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Graduate Analyst with an NV2 clearance to support national security initiatives within a high-profile government department.

This APS4/5 level labour-hire role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to data-driven decision-making and strategic operations in a dynamic, high-stakes environment.

This is a full-time labour-hire arrangement with an initial term of 12 months with a possibility of a 12-month extension. The position is office-based in Canberra. Please note that a hybrid working arrangement is not available for this role.

Successful candidates will:

  • Analyse open-source and sensitive data feeds to identify patterns, trends, and emerging threats.

  • Support the development and management of reporting processes to ensure timely and accurate outputs.

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance analytic procedures.

  • Assist in preparing, enhancing, and visualising data for key assessments and executive briefings.

  • Contribute to data governance initiatives and process improvements that strengthen security operations.

  • Draft and present materials that support improved data and analytic capabilities.

  • Perform other duties as directed by the Project Officer.

Candidates must be:

  • Recent graduates in Information Technology, Security Studies, Business, Commerce, or related fields.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.

  • Skilled in analytical thinking and problem-solving.

  • Capable of contributing to discussions that resolve data, system, or procedural challenges.

  • Effective communicators—both written and verbal—with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.

  • Team players who support senior staff and colleagues in achieving strategic goals.

  • Australian citizens with a minimum NV2 clearance.

  • Able to work full-time on-site at the department's office in Canberra.

The ideal candidate would bring additional value through the following:

  • Demonstrated capability in digital and data literacy to support evidence-based decision-making, including familiarity with tools such as SQL, Power BI, and/or Python.

  • Previous experience working within or alongside the Australian Federal Government, with an understanding of public sector environments.

  • Practical knowledge of MS Visio for creating layout diagrams, as well as familiarity with HyperTerminal and IP networking concepts.

  • Exposure to analytical or programming tools and environments, such as Python, Ruby, Splunk, or similar platforms.
