Allygroup has an exciting opportunity for a senior government lawyer to join a high-profile government agency in Canberra.
Candidates should be based in Canberra and available for either a full-time or part-time role. Remote working arrangements can be available for the right candidate.
A baseline security clearance is preferred, but not mandatory. Immediate availability to start is required.
Our ideal candidates:
APS6/EL1 equivalent level with a minimum of three years Post Admission Experience
Previous APS experience, including an understanding of obligations under the Legal Services Directions 2017
Experience or knowledge in handling complex and sensitive litigation matters.
Key duties include:
Managing a small but complex litigation caseload, including judicial review matters, class actions, and ATT cases.
Overseeing all steps in the litigation process, such as reviewing submissions, arranging witness affidavits, and assisting with discovery.
Ensuring the department continues to meet obligations under the Legal Services Directions.
Working with external law firms and Commonwealth agencies on litigation matters.
Provide regular briefing to internal clients, the Executive, and the Minister’s Office.
Managing subpoenas on behalf of the department.
