Allygroup is seeking multiple experienced Senior Commercial Lawyers to join the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW) on a two-year contract (12-month initial term, with two 6-month extension options). This is an exciting and highly rewarding opportunity to make an impact and influence Australia’s climate, energy and environmental future.
This role is ideal for senior lawyers who thrive in a collaborative and fast-paced environment and want to contribute to work of national significance. It is offered on a full-time basis. However, part-time arrangements may be considered for suitably experienced candidates, provided they are available to work on Thursdays and Fridays.
A Baseline security clearance (or above) is mandatory, and candidates must be able to attend one of DCCEEW's offices in Canberra, Sydney or Melbourne at least three days per week. Applicants based in other states may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Key duties:
provide legal advice across a wide range of commercial matters
draft and review contracts, including procurement, grants, deeds, secondments, and licensing agreements
advise on procurement processes, contract management, liabilities, and terminations
navigate intellectual property and confidentiality issues
support property-related legal matters
engage and manage external probity advisors
mentor junior lawyers and contribute to team development
prepare high-level briefings for the Secretary and relevant Ministers
Ideal candidate:
minimum 7 years PAE in commercial law (10+ years highly desirable)
demonstrated experience advising Commonwealth government clients
collaborative and team-oriented, with a willingness to mentor junior staff
strong leadership and management capabilities
personable, approachable and proactive in their work style
