Legal Discovery Manager to lead ASIC's Disclosure Review Team

Allygroup is seeking an experienced Legal Review Manager to join ASIC's disclosure review team. This is a career-defining opportunity to work with the regulator's high-profile and complex enforcement actions. The secondment is initially set for three months, with the possibility of up to two additional three-month extensions.

Location

The successful candidate must work in-person at the Sydney offices. Please note that hybrid working arrangements are not offered for this position.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian citizens, be qualified as a lawyer with a minimum of two years post-admission experience, and hold a baseline security clearance.

About the Role

As Legal Review Manager, you will oversee a team of 10–15 paralegals, ensuring that disclosure obligations are met with the highest standards of accuracy and quality. You will play a critical role in a major regulator’s operations, refining processes and contributing to the efficiency of large-scale legal reviews.

Previous Experience Required

  • Proven experience in managing document reviews for discovery or disclosure, including leading teams.

  • Familiarity with disclosure obligations and legal frameworks.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Experience with technology-assisted review platforms such as Nuix Discover or Relativity is highly regarded.

  • Strong analytical and organisational skills, with a focus on team collaboration and workflow optimisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with legal teams to develop an understanding of disclosure obligations and legal issues.

  • Developing and implementing review strategies and protocols to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

  • Managing document review processes, addressing first-level queries, and escalating complex issues as needed.

  • Leading, mentoring, and providing performance feedback to document reviewers.

  • Coordinating with evidence analysis consultants to batch documents, monitor review trends, and conduct quality assurance checks.

  • Analysing review metrics to identify opportunities for improvement and implement best practices.

  • Monitoring review outputs and providing progress updates to stakeholders regarding consistency and timeframes.
