Allygroup is currently seeking a Senior Lawyer to support a Commonwealth client’s Criminal Assets Management (CAM) team. This is a unique opportunity for a legal professional with subject matter expertise in property law, criminal assets confiscation, and statutory interpretation to contribute to impactful government work.
A Baseline (or higher) security clearance is required.
About the Role
You will provide strategic legal support on complex matters involving property and criminal assets. You will work closely with government stakeholders, offering high-level legal advice and helping to improve operational efficiency in asset management.
This is an initial 6-month opportunity, with a proposed start date in late October or early November 2025.
Key Responsibilities
Support the CAM team in managing a backlog of legal matters, with a focus on identifying and prioritising high-risk cases
Develop and implement efficient work practices between the legal legam and CAM to improve collaboration and service delivery
Establish standing work instructions for CAM’s engagement with external legal panel firms to streamline transactional processes
Provide legal advice and oversight on the sale of real property, including reviewing contracts and managing conveyancing activities
Advise on leasing arrangements, including negotiation and management of leases over real property
Assist with legal instructions related to property sales, such as eviction of occupants and handling abandoned property
Deliver general legal advice to CAM on matters arising under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (Cth)
