Allygroup is seeking excellent Senior Litigation Lawyers for multiple positions within the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA). The agency is making a meaningful impact on the lives of more than 600,000 Australians. These important roles support the NDIA and National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) participants living with disability.

Candidates will be working in an inclusive and diverse workplace and contributing to a high-performing legal team and will be part of the transformation of the the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and Dispute Resolution and Litigation Branch. Roles will be available under secondment arrangements for contracts of 12+ months with the possibility for further extensions.

Roles are open to candidates based in Brisbane, Canberra, Sydney, and Melbourne. Flexible working arrangements may also be considered for the right candidate or to accommodate additional needs or caring requirements.

We are seeking candidates with experience within, extensive knowledge of and interest in:

  • Administrative Appeals Tribunal

  • Dispute Resolution and Litigation

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

• Providing high quality legal advice, support and services to internal clients in the management and resolution of participant related reviews in the AAT.

• Leading a team of lawyers running AAT matters, both in-house and as instructors to external firms, including oversight of all legal aspects of AAT cases, workflow prioritisation and mentoring to provide support in legal matters.

• Conducting litigation in the AAT on behalf of the CEO of the Agency, including:

o appearing in the AAT, at case conferences, conciliations and directions hearings;

o providing legal advice;

o conducting relevant research;

o preparing submissions and other documents for the purposes of litigation;

o briefing counsel;

o liaising with external legal services providers on outsourced matters, as applicable; and

o managing cases through interlocutory negotiations and, where required, through to final hearing.

Detailed statements of work will be provided to suitable candidates. Other ‘ad hoc’ duties may also be required to meet business requirements.
