About the role
Allygroup is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Reconsiderations Officer for a 12 month non-ongoing engagement, with our high-profile Federal Government client - Comcare. It is desirable that candidates hold tertiary qualifications in law and experience in litigation.
This role will be a direct non-ongoing placement with the agency for a period of 12 months. Part-time work considered and flexible working arrangements available. Candidates in Canberra or Melbourne will be considered
Position Overview
The Senior Reconsideration Officer works as part of the Reconsiderations and Appeals team responsible for the statutory reconsideration of claims decisions. Senior Reconsideration Officers will contribute to and manage a range of reconsiderations including engagement with claimants, employers and medical providers. This role will be the decision maker for medium to low risk, reconsiderations The Senior Reconsiderations Officer reports to the Assistant Director, Reconsiderations and will assist with the supervision of other team members.
Primary Responsibilities
Contribute to Comcare’s purpose, Corporate Plan and claims management strategy and operating model.
Deliver reconsideration services in line with the claims management strategy including the achievement of claims management targets and contributing to successful completion of improvement projects. This includes monitoring claims management activities and compliance with Comcare’s rules and objectives.
Accountable for driving the strategic direction of the work area and ensuring its activities are aligned with agency goals.
Make decisions on medium to low risk reconsiderations in line with a planned approach. Support high risk decisions through research, support and drafting.
Work across Comcare and our client agencies, to focus on the delivery of consistent claims management, positive claim outcomes, sharing information and better practice, and resolving conflicts.
Act in accordance with APS and Comcare requirements including human resource, financial management and procurement requirements. Coach and mentor team members.
Provides on-the-job training; provides feedback, support, advice and guidance to less experienced colleagues proactively and when required.
Connect and integrate reconsiderations with other functions of Comcare and across the APS.
Requirements
Candidates will be required to hold a Baseline Security Clearance or be eligible to obtain a Baseline Security Clearance
