EOI - Government FOI Lawyer (3-5 years PAE)

Allygroup is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOIs) from experienced FOI lawyers (minimum 3 years PAE) to support multiple Commonwealth departments and agencies.

We are building a pool of high‑calibre FOI legal professionals to contribute to significant and high‑profile government work. These roles offer the opportunity to independently manage complex FOI matters while working within supportive, highly collaborative environments. You will operate within established systems for workflow and quality assurance, while engaging closely with legal and operational teams.

What We’re Looking For:

We are seeking FOI lawyers with experience in one or more of the following areas:

  • Independently managing complex FOI matters, including decision‑making, reviews (internal and external), and reporting

  • Providing strategic advice and coordinating guidance on FOI and related legal issues

  • Drafting clear, well‑reasoned, and defensible FOI decisions and review submissions

  • Working effectively within established matter management and quality assurance frameworks

  • Building strong working relationships with internal teams, stakeholders, and third parties

  • Contributing to team capability development, including mentoring and knowledge sharing

About You

You may be:

  • An experienced FOI lawyer with government or private sector experience

  • Motivated by meaningful work supporting important public sector outcomes

  • Seeking flexible work arrangements (full‑time, part‑time, or contract)

  • Comfortable working in sensitive, complex, or fast‑paced environments

  • Highly organised, detail‑oriented, and able to manage competing priorities

  • Experienced in handling confidential information and operating within secure processes
