Allygroup is seeking an experienced lawyer with strong experience in trade remedies law, statutory interpretation, and/or prior experience with an economic investigatory regulator. This position is offered as an initial three‑month contract with an Australian Government department, with the possibility of a further three‑month extension.
For this role the candidate requires a minimum baseline clearance and needs to be based in Melbourne or Canberra.
Roles and responsibilities
Delivering client‑centered legal support to investigators, including those without legal training, by working in partnership to identify and address legal issues and risks arising in investigations, reviews and inquiries and assisting decision makers to manage those risks effectively.
Providing high quality verbal and written legal advice on matters such as statutory interpretation, trade remedies law, evidentiary issues and investigative practice and procedure, including both matter‑specific advice and broader legal research and analysis.
Managing merits review matters, including preparing submissions and participating in conferences with members of the Anti‑Dumping Review Panel.
Requirements
Hold a current Australian legal practising certificate
Australian citizenship is mandatory
Must hold current baseline security clearance
Minimum 3+ years of administrative law experience required
