Allygroup is seeking an experienced lawyer to join high-performing legal teams within the Federal Government. This role provides an exciting opportunity to offer advice on compliance and enforcement activities across important portfolio legislation. This includes advice on monitoring and investigation powers, warrant applications, information use and disclosure in enforcement contexts, and management of the department’s civil penalty matters.
This role is a 3 month secondment arrangement (from mid-December 2025 to late March 2026), available in Canberra (preferred) or remote working arrangements are negotiable. A Baseline security clearance is preferred. Full-time work is preferred; however, part-time and flexible arrangements will be considered.
Key responsibilities:
Provide legal advice on:
Regulatory and decision-making functions.
Compliance and enforcement activities.
Monitoring and investigation powers, warrants, information disclosure, and civil penalty matters.
Support agricultural export regulatory functions and legislative interpretation.
The ideal candidate will have:
Minimum 4 years post-admission legal experience.
Previous Australian Public Service (APS) experience and familiarity with Legal Services Directions 2017 are highly desirable.
Experience or knowledge regarding Biosecurity Act 2015, Imported Food Control Act 1992, Illegal Logging Prohibition Act 2012, and Export Control Act 2020 would be highly desirable.
