Allygroup is seeking experienced APS6 Template Coordinators to support a high-profile Commonwealth Government Department.

This is an exciting opportunity to lead a national project that strengthens knowledge management and supports digital transformation across government. You will play a key role in reviewing and enhancing Microsoft Office templates, ensuring they are accurate, accessible, and compliant with legislative and style requirements. Working closely with legal experts, IT specialists, and other stakeholders, you’ll deliver technical solutions and drive improvements that underpin efficient and consistent work practices across the Australian Public Service.
Eligibility: Australian Citizenship and a Baseline security clearance (or ability to obtain and maintain)
Contract Term: Initial term 3 - 6 months
Engagement Type: Non-ongoing Placement arrangement or Introduction Service from a different Commonwealth Government department.
Location: Canberra, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide
Key responsibilities:
Advise on best practice for template development and maintenance.
Consult and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver accurate, high-quality templates.
Lead a multidisciplinary working group.
Develop and maintain project documentation for monitoring and reporting.
Review and update priority templates by:
Applying consistent styles and formatting.
Updating and inserting VBA macros as required.
Ensuring compliance with accessibility and security standards.
Identify and consolidate duplicate templates into national versions.
Ensure custom Microsoft Office ribbons, templates, and content controls function reliably.
Produce training and technical documentation for custom solutions.
Report progress against project plans.
Contribute to broader Australian Government objectives.
Required Skills and Attributes
Advanced expertise in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (styles, templates, macros, content controls).
Proficiency in VBA for Office (maintain, debug, optimise code).
Understanding of custom UI XML files and XML schema management.
Ability to apply style guides rigorously with attention to detail.
Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
Leadership and project management experience.
Problem-solving and analytical capability.
Ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
Capacity to train staff on template creation and maintenance.
Familiarity with legal templates and/or legal procedures is highly desirable.
