Allygroup is seeking Subpoena and Processing Officers (APS4 equivalent) to join a Federal Government agency in Canberra. This is an opportunity to gain APS administrative experience and create long-lasting contacts in a Federal Government agency. This is a 6-month secondment contract opportunity with the potential to be extended.

Allygroup is particularly interested in candidates who are seeking an entry-level APS role and who are keen to build a long-term career within the Federal Government. We are after candidates who are willing to do processing work and support a hard-working legal team with a great culture. Experience in legislation and policy is highly desirable
Candidates must be Australian citizens, Canberra-based, and available on a full-time basis.
Duties and responsibilities:
Processing and managing a high volume case load of matters such as subpoenas, court orders, summonses, information requests, etc.;
Operating under and utilising the Privacy Act 1988 and other program specific legislation in processing work;
Interrogating Departmental databases to retrieve the requested information;
Preparing the information in a readable format for the applicant and drafting the release letter before passing to the relevant delegate for approval;
Liaising with requesting Agencies and stakeholders in order to clarify required information with a view to establishing compliance with legislative requirements;
Responding to Commonwealth information orders issued under the Family Law Act 1975; and
Assisting and supporting agency staff who are required to give evidence in a court or tribunal matter.
Required candidate skills include:
High level of attention to detail;
Excellent time management, and ability to manage competing priorities;
Effective written and oral communication;
Ability to follow agreed processes and procedures; and
Ability to be self-motivated and also work collaboratively within a team.
In addition, our ideal candidate will:
Will have experience with either applying legislation to decision making and processing work or varied administrative responsibilities;
Possess high levels of integrity, probity and behavioural standards;
Have excellent time management and task prioritisation skills;
Be able to exercise sound judgement and analytical skills; and
Be able to work well under pressure.
