Michelle is a lawyer, entrepreneur and one of Australia’s most experienced litigation funders. With a strong legal foundation at leading law firm DLA Piper (previously Phillips Fox lawyers), Michelle gained experience as a litigator, refining her skills in professional indemnity claims, dispute resolution and litigation.
Following her role at DLA Piper, Michelle leveraged her insurance experience as Legal Claims Manager at Lawcover for a number of years before moving to a role with a general insurance company. There Michelle honed her skills as a team and business leader, helping to form the team managing professional indemnity claims and setting up a new business unit focusing on the funding of insolvency cases.
In 1999 Michelle built and managed one of the first and most successful litigation funders in Australia and New Zealand from the ground up, Litigation Lending Services. Efficiency and relationship focused, Michelle established a lean and effective team to fund and manage cases and maximise return to investors and claimants.
Michelle combined her entrepreneurial skills with her litigation expertise and strategic approach to attract high profile investors to fund insolvency, commercial and subsequently class action claims. Testament to Michelle’s talent for picking emerging trends in the legal industry, class actions and third party funding are now an established part of the Australian legal landscape and are increasingly accessed by shareholders and other stakeholders to access justice.
Michelle brings her wealth of business development knowledge and consensus building capabilities to her role at Allygroup where, as Business Development Director, she is further establishing the company’s legal resourcing business as a service offering that will be competitive at national and international levels.
